There are so many different social media websites that some marketers have a tough time figuring out where they can find a good audience for their marketing message. Of course, the best way to find the best platforms for your own own business is to spend some time testing. However, you may want to begin by conducting a bit of research to find the social networking sites that have produced good results for companies that are similar to your own. This research could save you some time and money.
B2B Marketing Vs. B2C Social Media Marketing Platforms
Business-to-Business and Business-to-Consumer, or B2B Marketing and B2C Marketing, are two very broad categories. Of course, B2B companies mostly sell to other companies B2C companies mostly focus on consumers. To get started, you might begin by seeing which social platforms that these two types of companies have found the most effective. That way, you don’t just have to take a shotgun approach to your social marketing.
The Content Marketing Institute has already conducted a survey to learn how marketers for these two types of companies have performed on some of the major social platforms. The results of this study might help you get started. B2C marketers who responded to this survey ranked social sites that they found effective. The top three results were Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter. In contrast, the three favorite picks for B2B marketers were LinkedIn, Twitter, and YouTube.
These are some takeaways from this ranking:
* It’s interesting to see that the second and third picks in both categories were Twitter and YouTube. Their positions were just reversed.
* For businesses that hoped to appeal to consumers, Facebook ranked at the top.
* Unsurprisingly, LinkedIn ranked at the top for marketers who wanted to attract companies as their customers.
This doesn’t mean that B2B companies should always ignore Facebook. It also doesn’t mean that B2C companies should ignore LinkedIn. On the survey, Facebook ranked fifth on the B2B rankings, and LinkedIn ranked fifth on the B2C rankings!
It does mean that you are likely to have better initial results by focusing on the sites that other marketers have found most effective for their types of companies. After you have tuned your campaigns for the most likely candidates, you can always expand your efforts by branching out to other sites.
